The Price of Paradise?
“The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas”
A Discussion
In this special edition of Abby’s Coffeehouse, Fr. Marty Miller will lead us in a discussion of Ursula Le Guin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas”.
"The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" grapples with deep moral questions about justice, the ethics of happiness, individual responsibility, and the cost of societal well-being. It challenges the reader to consider the price of happiness and whether it is possible to live in a world where one's well-being comes at the expense of another's suffering.
