Why do we experience fragmentation within ourselves and in society? Why is it so hard to love one another? Saint Augustine’s City of God tells us a story to make sense of the grueling perplexities of embodied and historical existence. Even if one does not share Augustine’s Christian faith, reading this book cultivates a systematic and critical habit of thought enabling greater insight into our indivdiual and shared lives.
The course will meet for 11 sessions starting June 2nd, 2021. All sessions meet from 7:30 - 9:00 PM on Wednesday evenings online through Zoom. A syllabus is available here.
The seminar carries a $55 fee for attendees, though you are welcome to attend the first session at no charge.
