The Hippocratic Forum is excited to launch its Medical Humanities Seminar for undergraduates interested in pursuing medicine.
The aim of this seminar is to help undergraduate pre-medical students ask the key questions regarding the philosophical and anthropological foundations of medicine. The curriculum is formed around what we see as the four most pertinent philosophical questions at the heart of medicine:
What does it mean to be human?
What is the end of medicine?
What is the meaning of suffering?
What does it mean to die well?
The overall mission of the Hippocratic Forum is to aim medicine back towards its proper end and help physicians retain their ideals in practice.
Those accepted will be Junior Fellows of the Hippocratic Forum and therefore have access to mentorship as they apply to medical school and beyond.
We hope that through this seminar, students may begin to develop a philosophic framework that they can take into medical school and clinical practice to cultivate a more flourishing life for themselves and their patients. Apply below!
