Have you ever thought about reading Leo Tolstoy’s iconic War & Peace, but were too intimidated to do it alone?

Come join a supportive & enthusiastic group for a summer reading group as we venture into the magnificent and sweeping world of societal change, personal dramas, and transformational love that was rocked by Napoleon’s invasion.

With manageable readings and dinner at each session, we’ll join Tolstoy as he wrestles with the questions of man’s free will, the crisis of war, and our own role in history.

Starting June 16th, we will meet for 8 weeks every Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Abigail Adams Institute in Cambridge.

There is no cost to the program, and you will receive a complementary copy of the book translated by Richard Peaver and Larissa Volokhonsky.

There will be discussion and dinner at each session.

Group discussion will be led by Bridget Beck, a recent graduate of Magdalen College in New Hampshire. She holds a degree in Literature, and her favorite studies have included Tolstoy’s post-conversion writings and The Divine Comedy, which was the subject of her senior thesis. She has served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Catholic Urban Programs in East St. Louis, IL, and is now a Thomas More Teaching Fellow in the Archdiocese of Boston and one of two AAI Summer Interns.
